How I handle your information
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information I collect, why I collect it, and what I do with it. It applies to saskiathornton.com and to the work I do with clients, masterclass attendees and subscribers.
I'm Saskia Thornton, director of Saskia Thornton Ltd, based in Taranaki, New Zealand. When this policy says "I", it means Saskia Thornton Ltd. I follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
If you have a question about any of this, email me at saskia@saskiathornton.com.
What I collect
When you get in touch or book a call. Your name, email address, phone number if you give it, your business name, and whatever you tell me about your business in the form or booking questions.
When you register for a masterclass or join a waiting list. Your name, email address, business name and anything else the registration form asks for.
When you subscribe to my emails. Your name and email address, plus a record of which emails you open and which links you click.
When you become a client. Contact and billing details, and the information you share with me about your business during our work together. This often includes commercially sensitive information, and sometimes personal information about your team or customers. Sessions held online may be recorded and transcribed, and I'll always tell you before a recording starts.
When someone refers you to me. A business adviser, such as a Regional Business Partner growth adviser, or another founder may pass on your name, contact details and a short description of your business so I can get in touch.
When you visit the website. Basic information about your visit, such as the pages you view, the site that sent you, your approximate location, and your browser and device type. See "Cookies and tracking" below.
I don't collect payment card details. Invoices are paid by bank transfer.
Why I collect it
To reply to you and to run the call, masterclass or programme you signed up for
To deliver client work and keep a record of it
To send you emails you've asked for
To invoice you and meet my tax and record-keeping obligations
To understand how the website and my marketing are performing, and to show my ads to people likely to find them useful
You can choose not to give me information. If you do, I may not be able to book your call, register you for an event or work with you.
Cookies and tracking
The website uses a small number of cookies and similar tools.
Website analytics. The website's built-in analytics show me which pages are visited and where visitors come from. They report this in aggregate and I don't use it to identify you.
Meta pixel. The site uses the Meta pixel, a piece of code from Meta Platforms (the company behind Facebook and Instagram). It tells Meta that a browser visited the site and which pages it viewed. Meta may match that to a Facebook or Instagram account. I use it to measure whether my ads lead to masterclass registrations and enquiries, and to show ads to people who have visited the site or who are similar to them. I don't send Meta the contents of any form you fill in.
You can limit this by:
blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings
changing your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings
using a browser or extension that blocks tracking
Who I share it with
I don't sell personal information, and I don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.
I use other companies' software to run my business, and your information is stored or processed in their systems. These are established providers of:
website hosting, forms and analytics
call booking and video calls, including recording and transcription
email, calendar and document storage
email newsletters
client workspaces and online whiteboards
accounting and invoicing
AI tools that help me prepare session notes, summaries and documents
These providers only handle your information to provide their service to me. The exception is Meta, which is described under "Cookies and tracking" above.
If your work with me is co-funded through the Regional Business Partner programme, I share the details that programme requires with the relevant agency, such as Venture Taranaki, to confirm and invoice the funding.
I may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Information held overseas
Most of these companies store data outside New Zealand, mainly in the United States and the European Union. I use established providers with their own privacy and security commitments, but the privacy laws in those countries are not the same as New Zealand's.
How long I keep it
Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Enquiries that don't go further: up to two years.
Client records: for as long as we work together and up to seven years afterwards. Financial records are kept for at least seven years, as tax law requires.
Session recordings: for the length of the programme and up to 12 months afterwards, unless we agree otherwise.
When I no longer need information, I delete it or remove what identifies you.
Keeping it secure
I take reasonable steps to protect the information I hold, including strong passwords, two-factor authentication and limiting who has access. No system is completely secure. If a privacy breach is likely to cause you serious harm, I'll tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as soon as I can.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of the personal information I hold about you, and ask me to correct it if it's wrong. Email saskia@saskiathornton.com and I'll respond within 20 working days.
You can also unsubscribe from my emails at any time, or ask me to delete information I no longer need to keep.
If you're not happy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
I'll update this page if what I collect or how I use it changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
